Preparing for men’s waxing

Hair between 5 mm and 10 mm gives the wax enough growth to grip. This is usually around two to three weeks after shaving. If the hair is longer than 1 cm, it can be lightly trimmed before treatment at no extra charge.

Avoid fake tan for 48 hours before your appointment.
Avoid sunbathing and heat treatments for the preceding 24 hours.
Exfoliate gently one to two days beforehand, but not with a strong product on the appointment day.
If you use retinol, Retin-A or a similar product on the treatment area, stop for at least three weeks and speak to NUDE before booking.

What to expect at your first visit

Iva reviews your consultation form, asks about allergies, medication and skin concerns, and explains what will happen before the treatment starts. You will have privacy while getting ready and receive aftercare guidance at the end of the appointment.

Waxing involves some discomfort. A first wax can feel more noticeable, while regular appointments often feel easier as regrowth becomes finer.

How hot wax and strip wax differ

Hot wax is applied in a warm, thicker layer and removed without a strip. Strip wax is thinner, removed with a paper strip and suited to larger areas such as arms and backs. Iva chooses the appropriate wax for your skin and the area being treated.

After your wax

Give the treated skin 24 to 48 hours away from heat, heavy sweating, swimming, hot tubs, sunbeds, fake tan, tight synthetic clothing and strongly perfumed products.

Begin gentle exfoliation three to four days afterwards, two to three times a week.
Moisturise regularly and mention recurring ingrown hairs at your appointment.
Mild redness or sensitivity normally settles within a few hours; contact NUDE if it lasts beyond 48 hours.
A regular four-to-six-week schedule is usually recommended.
