Aim for 5 mm to 10 mm of hair growth before your appointment. For most people, that is around two to three weeks after shaving. Shorter hair can be difficult for the wax to catch; growth beyond 1 cm can be lightly trimmed before treatment at no extra cost.
- Leave at least 48 hours between applying fake tan and your appointment.
- Avoid sunbathing and heat treatments during the 24 hours before your visit.
- Gentle exfoliation one to two days ahead can help, but avoid strong exfoliating products on the day.
- Stop retinol, Retin-A and similar products for at least three weeks before waxing, and ask before booking if you are unsure about your skincare.
What happens at your appointment
At a first visit, Iva reviews your consultation form and asks about allergies, medication, sensitivities and skin concerns. She explains the treatment before it begins, gives you privacy while you get ready and provides aftercare guidance before you leave.
Most intimate waxing appointments take around 25 to 35 minutes. A first appointment also includes a consultation, so allow approximately 45 minutes.
Hot wax or strip wax?
Hot wax is applied in a warm, thicker layer and removed without a strip. NUDE uses it for intimate waxing and shorter regrowth. Strip wax is applied more thinly and removed with a paper strip, making it suitable for larger areas such as legs, arms and backs. Iva chooses the wax for your skin and the area being treated.
Waxing aftercare
For the first 24 to 48 hours, avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, sunbeds, heavy exercise, swimming, hot tubs, fake tan, tight synthetic clothing and strongly perfumed products on the treated area.
- Wait three to four days, then exfoliate gently with a soft mitt or mild scrub two to three times a week.
- Keep the skin moisturised and mention recurring ingrown hairs at your next appointment.
- Mild redness or sensitivity usually settles within a few hours. Contact NUDE if it continues beyond 48 hours.
- A four-to-six-week waxing schedule is usually recommended.
